Director of Purchasing – Job Description
Our 104 year old family business is looking to hire a Director of Purchasing. The job requires a 4 year college degree. A business degree with a focus on supply chain management and/or an MBA/CPM is a plus. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of purchasing experience working in the private sector and experience in working with government purchasing processes and contracts. Military service is a plus. The qualified candidate will be actively engaged in areas of strategic sourcing, procurement and supply chain management. Responsibilities include negotiating with suppliers for all company divisions, assisting with cost reductions and implementing lean principles throughout the organization. The Purchasing Manager will work with the management in developing and managing strategic sourcing plans across the company to leverage buying power to achieve cost efficiencies.
